Selected Projects

A good example of the trans-media approach is the collaboration Chris Sloan brought about between the International Mammoth Committee and the National Geographic Society on the publication of the baby mammoth.

The discovery of a frozen baby mammoth in Siberia caused a world-wide sensation. This media event was played out in print, television, fun and educational interactives and a book authored by Chris Sloan.

A similar approach was successful in expanding the impact of Sea Monsters.

Sea monsters used cutting edge technology to recreate lost worlds inhabited by fearful creatures. The media included a magazine feature story, an I-MAX movie, and educational and promotional interactives with 3D components.

For other projects, Sloan and his team produced multi-layer interactives to improve audience reach and user experience.

To commemorate the founding of Jamestown and showcase amazing new discoveries there and at the Powhatan town of Werewerecomoco, a stand-alone site was created with multi-layered interactives including fly-overs, recreations, videos, and photo galleries.

King Tut has been at the center of controversy for decades but the science behind discoveries about his life and death is best presented through interactive examinations of the mummy and tomb.

In this self-contained interactive the goal was to encapsulate decades of an institution’s investment in archaeological research on the Maya.
