Who We Are

Science Visualization is a content development company with a difference—co-owners Christopher Sloan and Christina Elson have over forty years combined experience in media and science.

Mr. Sloan brings an unparalleled visual approach to media as well as the know-how to successfully develop content for integrated trans-media approaches. After a successful career as an art director and freelance science illustrator, Mr. Sloan spent eighteen years at National Geographic Magazine. As a Senior Editor, Mr. Sloan led efforts to bring excellent visuals, such as reconstructions of King Tut, prehistoric creatures, and human ancestors, to life for the magazine and television. He also wrote magazine articles, web articles, and books for adults and kids. His willingness to travel to remote areas and interface directly with local researchers and government officials makes stories happen. An accomplished science communicator, Mr. Sloan has a particular interest in the history of visualizing science.

Before joining the media world, Dr. Elson pursued a career in science and research. After obtaining a doctoral degree in Anthropology, she held a curatorial post at the American Museum of Natural History and directed multi-year field and laboratory research in Mexico, including securing funding from the National Science Foundation and other granting agencies and authoring peer-reviewed publications. At the National Geographic Society, Dr. Elson embarked on a mission to advocate for scientists interested in media. Working closely with scientists and with content providers, she develops projects that produce great media, as well as achieve real scientific goals.

As the leaders of Science Visualization, Christopher Sloan and Christina Elson do much more than create great-looking media projects, they create quality content with a broad reach, that makes you, our client, look your best.
